Wastewater InternOpen Until Filled
Description:The Wastewater Intern will have the opportunity to assist in performing work in the operation of equipment in the wastewater treatment plant, domestic production facilities, agrucultural pumping and storage facilities, and reclaimed water storage and pumping facilities, including maintenance, repair, and operation activities under direct supervision of an assigned licensed operator in the wastewater department.

Qualifications:  Must be actively pursuing specialized training in water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, or a related field.  Computer experience is preferred.  Must possess a valid California driver's license.

Compensation:$15 per hour with no benefits.  This is a part-time position available year round begining July 1, 2010, with flexible hours, not to exceed a yearly total of 499.50 hours.

Description:Under general supervision, ensures water system regulatory compliance; performs a variety of tasks associated with the planning and operations of the District's extensive water quality and related technical programs for raw water sources, collection, treatment, transmission, storage and distribution processes; maintains and operates the District's water/wastewater laboratory for microbiological and chemical analysis; assists in developing and operating ongoing programs in water/wastewater treatment evaluation and optimization, pilot plant studies, source water monitoring programs, sampling and laboratory analysis protocol development, contaminant montioring and response, and engineering design projects.

Qualifications:  Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or universite with majore course work in chemistry, microbiology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field.  Two years of experience in a water quality testing laboratory, field sampling, and/or water treatment plant or water distribution system.  Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license.  Possession of a Grade I Certificate in Laboratory Technology issued by the CWEA or AWWA within 18 months of employment.
Compensation:$28.91-$37.94 hourly plus generous benefits EOE.
